At The Heart of Gregor Homes Is Social Responsibility

Gregor Homes believes that giving back to the community is a responsible and rewarding thing to do as citizens of the world.  Involved in numerous projects and fundraising activities both locally and abroad, all of the Gregor Team loves to jump in and take part. Gregor Homes strives to use their skills and expertise to help wherever and however they can.

Just a few of the projects are highlighted here:

Helping Puerto Rico After Hurricane

In 2018, James, along with his son David joined a group of Ontario home builders and traveled to Puerto Rico on two separate occasions.  After learning about the devastation left by Hurricane Maria in late 2017, they wanted to help in any way they could. The group traveled to a small village in Puerto Rico and used their skills to rebuild homes, repair roofs and teach local trades people to build more hurricane resistant homes.

Humanitarian Build

James, along with many of his Gregor Team, have participated in three humanitarian builds in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic since 2011. James was instrumental in the planning and construction of a Youth Development Center for a charity, operating in an impoverished community in the Dominican.

Ice Fishing Tournament

James co-founded the Ontario Builders’ Association – Simcoe County’s Ice Fishing Tournament which takes place on the family weekend each February in Barrie, ON. Attracting thousands of participants from all parts of Ontario, the tournament has grown into one of the largest winter events in the area. Proceeds of the tourney, have benefited many area community charities over the 10+ years it has been running.

R.E.A.L. Project

James co-chaired a R.E.A.L. Project (Reno Essentials for Accessible Living) after hearing about a local man who had a life altering fall and became a quadriplegic. The project was able to completely renovate a home to make it as accessible as possible, all with donated time, materials and expertise.
